Light your Inner Fire {Tapas}
In yoga philosophy, Tapas is one of the five Niyamas, or personal observances. The word Tapas comes from the Sanskrit root meaning "to heat" or "to burn." It represents the inner fire that fuels growth, transformation, and purposeful living.
While the word "discipline" is often associated with Tapas, it isn't about being rigid or pushing ourselves to exhaustion. Instead, Tapas encourages us to show up with intention and consistency. It's the quiet commitment to keep returning to the practices that help us feel healthy, grounded, and connected, even when life becomes busy or challenging.
