Mint {Breathe Deep}
There are moments when the world feels heavy—when grief, uncertainty, or burnout tighten the chest and shorten the breath. It’s in these times that the invitation to “breathe deep” becomes more than a cue—it becomes a lifeline. A reminder that right here, right now, breath is both our anchor and our guiding light.
When was the last time you truly filled your lungs—without rushing, without holding back?
This month, we explore the art of breathing deeply—not only into the lungs but into the stories we carry in our hips, our hearts, and our homes.
To support this journey inward, we invite the cooling, clarifying scent of mint. Mint is nature’s way of waking us up—of clearing space and softening edges. Inhaling mint feels like a fresh start, like exhaling fear and welcoming in focus. You might diffuse it during your practice, place a drop on your wrists, or simply steep it in tea.
What would you be ready to release if you gave yourself permission to exhale fully?
In our yin practice, we pair this breathwork with Dragon pose—a deep, earthy hip opener that asks us to stay, to feel, and to release. Dragon invites courage: the courage to lean into discomfort, to meet resistance, and to exhale tension held in the hips. With each long hold, we breathe deep—not to push through, but to melt, to witness, and to heal. Read more about Dragon here.
Try this:
Come into a low lunge, back knee grounded. Let your front foot be wide, your hips heavy. Close your eyes. Inhale the strength of mint, exhale the weight of worry. Stay. Listen.
What emotions or memories are stored in your hips that are ready to be witnessed—without fixing, without judging?
Can you soften your grip on needing to know what comes next?
This month, let "breathe deep" be your mantra. Let mint be your medicine. Let Dragon remind you: you are brave enough to stay with what’s here. And you are worthy of the breath that sets you free.
