Cinnamon {Go within}
As the days grow shorter and the air turns crisp, October gently invites us inward. Nature is shifting—leaves turning brilliant shades before falling, animals preparing their nests, the world slowing into a softer rhythm. At Nourishing Storm, our theme this month is Go Within—a reminder to pause, reflect, and reconnect with our inner world.
Just as the outer world begins its retreat, we too are called to draw closer to our center. In yoga and in life, this is the practice of turning our gaze inward, listening to the quiet voice within, and honoring what we find there.
The Scent of Cinnamon
To accompany this inward journey, our scent of the month is cinnamon. Warm, earthy, and grounding, cinnamon carries a sense of comfort and familiarity. It evokes memories of home, gatherings, and nourishment. In Ayurveda, cinnamon is known to stoke the digestive fire—not just for food, but also for life itself. It awakens our inner spark, bringing clarity, energy, and warmth to our reflection.
When you breathe in the spicy sweetness of cinnamon, allow it to remind you that your inner world is rich, alive, and worth exploring.
Use the cozy scent of cinnamon, a hot cup of tea, and a quiet moment to reflect on the season within yourself.
Here are a few prompts to guide you:
What does “going within” mean to me right now?
What am I ready to release this season, just as the trees let go of their leaves?
What inner wisdom have I been carrying that’s ready to be honored or expressed?
How can I create more moments of stillness and warmth in my daily life?
When I think of cinnamon—its comfort, spice, and heat—what part of me feels called to awaken?
This October, may you find nourishment in the quiet spaces, strength in the letting go, and inspiration in the warmth that remains within you. Just like cinnamon, your presence has a way of bringing both comfort and vitality—trust in your inner fire as you journey inward.
