Butterfly
Featuring Eileen, Storm Life Yoga Teacher
Butterfly Pose invites softness, surrender, and spaciousness. A gentle yin posture that opens the hips and quiets the mind, it reminds us that transformation happens not through striving but through allowing. As we settle into stillness, we create room for breath, release, and renewal—unfolding slowly, like wings ready to take flight.
How to Practice
Sit tall with the soles of your feet together, letting your knees fall open like butterfly wings.
Bring your feet closer for a deeper stretch or farther away to reduce intensity.
Fold forward gently, rounding the spine as you release the weight of your head and heart.
Hold for 3–5 minutes, breathing slowly and allowing gravity to guide the opening.
To release, press through your hands, slowly rise, and bring your knees together.
Pause in stillness to feel the subtle energy shift through your body.
Options & Props
Sit on a blanket or bolster to support the lower back.
Place blocks or cushions under your knees for extra comfort.
Rest your forehead on a bolster, block, or pillow for a sense of grounding.
For a reclining variation, bring a bolster along the spine for gentle heart opening.
