“Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.” -The Bhagavad Gita
Melissa was introduced to yoga in her late teenage years for fitness reasons; focused purely on asana. In youth and adolescence/young adulthood, Melissa experienced profound traumas and struggles which internalized and surfaced in the form of depression and anxiety disorders.
As an instructor, Melissa desires to hold space for her students to find the truest versions of themselves, heal from emotional, physical and mental wounds, find deeper acceptance and awareness, create safety and sanctuary within, practice self care/self love, open themselves to possibilities, encourage personal growth and learning, and utilize the breath for inner peace and calm…on and off the mat! We all struggle and shine simultaneously; learning to embrace both the light and the dark as equally valuable human experiences leads to healing and enlightenment. As a teacher, Melissa desires to embody this balance of energy (inspired by the sun and the moon) and promote acceptance for our current states of being, knowing we are exactly where we are supposed to be in this present moment. Leading from our heart space and guided by our intuition, we can find the healing, love, peace, and life we are seeking. Join Melissa on this quest to evolve our truest, most wholesome, grounded, and liberated selves!
